Innovation and Investment

The customer is at the heart of Krones' product strategy. Many new ideas are therefore conceived on the ground out of the close contact between our service and sales staff and customers. The Research and Development departments of Krones then develop the appropriate products, always on the premise that the operating costs and the costs of raw materials (total cost of ownership) for the customer will be cut.

In order to maintain our innovative strength at the highest possible level, we have for years been investing around six per cent of our revenue in research and development – a very high amount by comparison with the industry. In addition to this, we also work with external research institutes such as the Fraunhofer Institute in order to incorporate external expertise into our product development.
