The EKA brewery in Angola utilises Krones packing and palletising technology
The second largest brewery group in Africa, BGI Castel is expanding its facility in Angola. Within a mere two years, BGI have installed five complete Krones filling lines in the West African country: two lines rated at 50,000 bph and three lines rated at 36,000 bph. The sixth line will be commissioned in spring 2007 at the EKA brewery. This line is designed for filling and packaging 36,000 returnable and non-returnable glass bottles per hour.
The new containers are handled by a Robot 2A depalletiser, a single-column robot with two linear moving axes. A Pressant 2500 1N depalletiser processes the pallets with crates for 6 x 4 returnable bottles. The single-column palletiser with rotating lifting column lifts the crate layer off the pallet and transfers it to the discharge table with a 90° rotation. A Blitzpac unpacker removes the glass bottles from the crates. The sturdy unpacker/packer operating in cycles. with its high operational dependability and low wear. perfectly meets the requirements of a brewery.
For the packing and palletising equipment for the EKA brewery, the group also relies on Krones: a Blitzpac packs the glass bottles in crates of 6 x 4. A Wrapapac W carton packer produces packs with non-returnable bottles. It creates the packs based on the inline-principle, the carton blanks are fed in linear mode from below. A Pressant Universal 1N palletiser with height-adjustable loading station and transfer plate for both pack types ensures optimum pallet loading.
