Process technology for wine production

The Guelbenzu Chile S.A. vineyard, situated in the Colchagua valley, extends over a whopping 170 ha, with 123 ha holding Carbernet Sauvignon, 29 ha Carmenere and 18 ha Chardonnay grapes. The Chilean winegrowers rely on Steinecker technology for efficient and high-quality wine production equipment. Krones technologists have engineered a fermentation and storage cellar with modern technology in a semi-automatic design, including a fermentation temperature monitoring feature and all peripheral equipment.
 
The scope of the order comprised the stainless steel tanks for wine fermentation with heaters in "dimple jacket" design:

• 40 tanks with a volume of 39,900 l each,
• 21 tanks with a volume of 19,700 l each,
• 2 tanks with a volume of 11,000 l each,
• 2 tanks with a volume of 5,400 l each.
  

Furthermore, piping and valve technology for grape mash transfer and equipment for mash treatment with conveyors, bin inverters, heat exchangers and rotary impulsers.
The control technology for the tank system was supplied with 41 individual control panels for semi-automatic fermentation tank operation, including the corresponding utilities.
Since February 2003, the modified 65 stainless steel tanks have been guaranteeing perfect vinification conditions for both red and white wine.
