Modulpac packs juice cartons in wraparound cartons

For extending its existing filling line for beverage cartons, Eckes-Granini Deutschland GmbH, Germany’s market leader on the German fruit beverage market, ordered a Krones line at the dry end rated at 10,800 packages per hour.
When choosing the machinery for the secondary packaging and palletising functions, the plant management opted for the Krones Modulpac packer, and the Pressant palletiser. The machines are complemented by a Checkmat full-pack monitor, a pack coding device and the corresponding Krones conveyors for packs and pallets. A particular feature of the Modulpac at Eckes-Granini is the infeed of the beverage cartons from two opposite sides and the closure-defined configuration of the pack groups.
The Modulpac takes a flat carton blank out of the magazine, and passes it in a straight line to the timing chain. The beverage cartons are fed to the machine from the side and combined into groups of four. The pregrouped beverage cartons are then pushed onto the carton blank, precisely guided throughout.
The cartons are then passed to the Pressant palletiser featuring a 90° rotary column and a high pack infeed. This enabled an entirely new palletising system to be additionally installed with a minimised footprint, in parallel to the existing system.
