Cartons instead of plastic crates for Thai spirits group

Sang Som Group is part of the TCC group, the largest spirits producer in Thailand. Besides the worldwide well-known “Mekhong”, Sang Som Group  also produces a series of distillates for different target groups and price categories, among which is also the “Lao Khao” for the low price sector. The “Lao Khao” which means “White Spirit”, is filled into 630 ml beer bottles and topped with a Maxicap pull-off closure. The distilleries and bottling plants are distributed all over Thailand.
In cooperation with Krones, the end-of-the-line packagings of 12 Sang Som plants were changed over from handling cartons instead of plastic crates, as was the case up to now. Each of the 12 lines with an output of 15,000 bph were equipped with one carton erector Variocart, one carton sealer as well as an intermittent packer Blitzpac Junior. The changeover to carton was implemented almost simultaneously in all 12 plants.
The Variocart carton erectors are supplied for different output ranges and process flat or pre-glued blanks with or without dividers, depending on the machine model involved. Thanks to their compact dimensions, they can be easily integrated in existing packing lines.
The Variocol carton sealers are installed downstream of the packers. The full cartons, arriving on a single lane, can be glued and closed at a speed of up to 60 packs per minute. If the cartons are fed on two lanes, the output reaches 120 packs/minute.
