Food cans have been an established package since a long time

Food cans were marketed as early as 1830. The first canned food was sold in English shops. It was highly appreciated and considered a particular delicacy. In Germany, Züchner in Seesen was the first company to produce beverage cans. In 1926, an American producer marketed "Spiced Ham", pork that has been cut, spiced and pressed in tinplate cans. These two examples illustrate how long the tin can has been known as food package. In the following years up to today, the thickness of the can walls has been continuously reduced, and new can shapes developed. Today, tinplate is known as an innovative, stable and safe packing material for a variety of products.* Sandwich spreads, vegetable and fruit preserves, condensed milk, fish products … and there are many more examples.  The can as a food package is "at home" in many applications.

A variety of buffer systems ensure coherent combination of machines within a line and optimise the degree of utilisation involved. Krones packing and palletising technology packs the cans in the required formation in non-returnable packs such as shrinkpacks, trays or film-wrapped trays or wrap-around cartons, which are swiftly and gently palletised by single- or double-axis palletisers or robot technology.
