Effective warehouse management
Optimisation of the warehouse processes and quality aspects concerning communication with the retail market are important criteria for warehouse logistics modernisation projects.
The basis for an efficient warehousing system is a precise assessment of the actual situation and development of different alternatives for the future warehouse operation.
Logistical systems are designed as manual or mechanised solutions, to suit the requirements of the client concerned. What both solutions have in common is the interface with a warehouse management system for controlling order processing. This allows for precise recording of the storage and retrieval processes and real-time management of the warehouse stock. In both concepts, the products are stored according to batch information and best-before date, which ensures consequent FIFO warehouse management.
MPW system – manual storage systems
These systems are frequently designed as fork truck operated block storage warehouses. The forklift trucks are managed by the forklift truck control systems. Forklift trucks are equipped with terminals where current orders can be displayed and processed. The forklift truck control system is connected to the warehouse management system via Wlan enabling quick and efficient information flow. The system allows for easy manual intervention possibilities to adapt to the individual process requirements of the company.
APW system – automatic storage systems
By integrating a high-bay warehouse in the operating processes, material flows can be processed automatically. In addition to functioning as distribution warehouse, these systems can be prepared as intermediate warehouses for semi-finished goods or raw materials. Transport of goods from production and the storage of goods is accomplished by conveying systems and ASRS systems which are controlled by material flow computers and the warehouse management system.
