Contiform S: stretch blow-moulding technology with minimised energy consumption
The consequential costs have been a decisive criterion for a brand bottling company based in the west of Germany to opt for Krones stretch-blow mould technology. A new Krones line supplied by a Contiform S20, rated 36,000 1.25-l bottles, has been added to the existing production lines. This means maximised productivity and minimised unit costs.
Krones guaranteed a maximum energy consumption for the entire line of 850 kWh, referenced to an output of 36,000 1.25-l bottles an hour. After more than a year of operation, the bottling company can evidence an actual energy consumption of just 605 kWh. The Contiform S, in particular, scores in terms of energy recovery with the upgraded Air Wizard system. For a start, the final blow-moulding pressure required can be reduced. And when the final blow-moulding air is recycled, part of it is then also used for pre-blowing and stretching during the pressure-relief phase.
The company has concentrated the entire stretch blow-moulding technology for all three PET lines in a separate hall, housing only Krones Contiform machines of different generations. The new Contiform S20 with quick-change moulds is rated at 1,800 containers per hour and cavity. The second crucial criterion besides energy consumption was a high, dependable efficiency level. The average efficiency is always above 90 per cent. And that’s what matters.
