CIP systems for a brewery
CIP processes in a brewery are meanwhile the standard option when it comes to cleaning all the process tanks and piping systems involved. Cleaning-in-place (CIP) is a term describing the automatic cleaning procedures designed for closed systems and featuring the deployment of cleaning solution, hot water and fresh water in recirculated mode in predefined sequences. With its VarioClean CIP system, Krones offers a modularised concept featuring up to five tanks for storing the defined cleaning media concerned. By matching the tank size to the production volume, the appropriate capacity can be provided for every size of brewery.
Advantages of a perfect CIP system in a brewery
- Efficaciously economical use of chemicals for the cleaning steps involved,
- Maximised dependability and optimum reproducibility of the cleaning procedures,
- Resource-economy, thanks to the recirculating system and concentration top-up for the cleaning media,
- Compactly dimensioned tank units for collecting and storing the media concerned,
- Efficient operation of the brewery, thanks to preprogrammed CIP sequences for each production segment.
Depending on the particular application involved, CIP cleaning is designed either as a non-circulatory cleaning procedure or as a batch cleaning process. In non-circulatory cleaning, for example, the cleaning media involved are disposed of after the production zone has been treated, whereas breweries with batch cleaning concepts will use the CIP media again, with the aid of various filtration and concentration top-up procedures.
By interfacing the production zones with valve rack guidance for the pipes, the CIP system can clean the brewery’s zones under automated control, enabling the sequences involved to be documented in the requisite detail.
