With a combined Bocksbeutel and Bordeaux bottling line, the winegrowers’ cooperative Winzergenossenschaft Franken (GWF) has modernised its filling operations. As part of this project, the Mecafill VPPV-CF filler was equipped with an automatically controlled CIP system, which significantly facilitates the procedures involved in starting up production. The VarioClean CIP system is perfectly matched to the line components concerned. The requisite media are provided from two tanks, so that the cleaning steps involved can be started automatically.
The concept of the VarioClean features modularised construction and incorporates 6 different tank sizes to suit the job profile and cleaning medium involved. The tanks for hot media are insulated. The cleaning media concerned (batch water, caustic, acid, hot water, disinfectant solution and fresh water) are deployed in the cleaning procedure in line with the operational requirements concerned.
CIP cleaning is designed either as non-circulatory (freshly prepared) cleaning routine or as batch cleaning. In ‘non-circulatory’ cleaning, the cleaning solution from the preparation tank is pumped into the CIP circuit and disposed of after the cleaning step involved. In batch cleaning, by contrast, the chemically and biologically effective components are recirculated from the CIP system via the pipes into the production line and back to the batch tanks. This means the cleaning media (after topping up with a dose of fresh cleaning agent) can be used more than once.
Depending on the requirements involved, Krones integrates CIP systems into beverage lines using a concept of non-circulatory or batch cleaning. The focus is always on the efficacy and efficiency of the cleaning performance.
