Conveyor systems – the basis for optimal product flow
The selection of conveyor technology is a vitally important issue when automatic storage systems are involved. The production areas are connected with the warehouse, the staging area is connected with the picking area, and, finally, the loading zone is integrated so that the system can work with maximum efficiency.
Therefore, in working out a logistics solution the selection of a conveyor system is a crucial issue for the plant´s performance. In order to engineer the optimal solution, the correlations between paths, the distances between the points to be connected, the required conveying tasks and outputs are predetermined. Furthermore, the available space and the budgeted costs are considered as well in the choice of the variant. Depending on the emphasis of these criteria, pallet-conveying technologies, monorail systems, or automatic guided vehicle (AGV) systems from the Krones DSR Systems programme are employed.
For the extension of the high-bay warehouse at the Berchtesgadener Land dairy plant in Piding, Krones specialists for material flow technology engineered a 150 m long monorail system bridge to connect the existing systems with the new building. High-speed plants with automatic high-bay warehouses are a frequent requirement especially for milk processing. Electric overhead conveyors are an important component for fast production disposal and retrievel processes.
Variants:
- Pallet-conveying technology is the most common conveyor system application in the beverage industry.
- Monorail systems provide gentle product transport without floor installation.
- AGV systems provide highly flexible transport and access
