Premium Scotch whisky in miniature bottles: Chivas Regal

Chivas Brothers Limited are installing a new Krones bottling line for miniatures for their Premium Scotch whisky brand Chivas Regal. The line is designed for an output of 18,000 bph. It handles three different 50-ml bottles, including the existing cylindrical full-glass bottle and two new glass and PET bottles.
For the PET bottles, a storage container with a lifting platform is being installed, to transfer the bottles into the unscrambler from where a vacuum conveyor takes them to the block. A distribution gate for changing over from glass to PET is provided upstream of the rinser. In the Variojet rinser, the bottles are flushed with the product concerned. The PET miniature bottles suitable for processing under vacuum are filled in a 40-valve Isofill VV filler which is designed for plastic bottles as well as for glass bottles.
The Autocol labeller applies pressure-sensitive labels to body or body and back. A Checkmat monitoring system checks the full bottles for missing closures and labels, after which the miniature bottles are fed to an existing Clusterpack machine.
