Preform sterilisation – maximised hygiene for PET bottles

Contipure ensures dependable sterilisation of the preforms prior to production of the actual PET bottles. The module is integrated between the linear oven and the blowing wheel, and treats the preforms using gaseous H2O2. A high standard of hygiene during PET container bottle production is particularly important when bottling ESL (enhanced-shelf-life) products that are sold within the cold chain, or fruit juices and spritzers with a low CO2 content, so as to ensure a lengthy shelf-life.

Contipure sterilises the preforms in an enclosed chamber using gaseous hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), acting simultaneously on the interior, exterior and the neck finish. The high temperature of the preforms arriving from the linear oven ensures highly efficacious treatment. The preforms are then passed directly to the blowing wheel, where they are blow-moulded to form PET bottles using sterile-filtered air.
