Innovative brewing vessel for two-kettle brewhouse

Mid-tier breweries that have opted for a two-kettle brewhouse now have a can-do option for producing their beers, in the shape of the Triton combined mashing, wort and stripping kettle. This innovative brewing vessel, created by the brewery specialists at Krones, enables the mashing, wort boiling and stripping processes to be combined in a single vessel. Integrating all the key components from Steinecker’s brewhouse technology (like ShakesBeer heating surfaces, Stromboli venturi jets and wort distribution spreaders, plus the Calypso stripping process, provides the breweries concerned with maximised flexibility for brewing their beers.
The system is particularly well suited for breweries that run six brews a day without a stripping step or three brews with a stripping function.

Specifically, the Triton’s worksteps are these:

  • mash production with the aid of the integrated dimple-plate heating surfaces from Steinecker’s ShakesBeer system, with a high k-value and a low steam temperature
  • wort boiling process based on pump-aided wort recirculation via the riser and the wort distribution spreader
  • stripping process for the wort previously clarified in the whirlpool via the wort distribution spreader and atmospheric post-evaporation at the body.

Thanks to the high-performance heating surfaces featured in the Triton. A low interfacial temperature and concomitantly reduced fouling can be achieved. The large wort area created by the pump-assisted wort circulation feature ensures efficient evaporation of unwanted aromatics. The post-evaporation function in the stripping process produces a defined setting for the wort parameters prior to cooling. Besides the high quality of the beers produced, the Triton brewing vessel also excels in terms of economical energy consumption.
