Megafiller in Brazil
In October 2010, the biggest filler ever built at Krones embarked upon its journey to Brazil: a Modulfill capable of bottling up to 78,000 litres of beverage an hour. For transporting the mega-filler by sea to Rio de Janeiro, a crate measuring nine times seven times 3.4 metres was required. The filler’s owner is Coca-Cola Andina, Chile, who purchased it for the bottling plant Rio de Janeiro Refrescos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The giant will be used for bottling Coca-Cola products in 2.00-litre, 2.25-litre, 2.50-litre and 2.75-litre containers, for corresponding outputs of 37,000 to 28,000 bottles an hour. The line has also been prepared for handling a 3.00-litre container in the future at a speed of 26,000 bottles an hour. Surrounded by a cleanroom, the Modulfill is embedded in a high-speed bottling line, produced entirely by Krones, at the bottling plant in Rio de Janeiro. The filler and the stretch blow-moulding machine were the last of the line’s components to leave the Krones plant in Neutraubling, first overland to Hamburg, and then by sea to the sunny, thirsty realm of Brazil.
