3.3-l PET container with a new base design

3.3 litres is the capacity of the largest containers that the Krones Contiform S can currently produce. The Mexican market, in particular, uses these sizes for carbonated soft drinks. To upgrade physical and thermal stability for container sizes with a diameter of 118 to 119 mm, a new mould design has been developed. It takes due account of the higher temperatures in the stretch blow-moulding process required for these large bottles. The new base design also prevents the bottles from bulging under the pressure of the carbonated beverages, creating major advantages when the bottles are being handled downstream in the packers and palletisers, and during storage as well.
