Lavasonic HI wins German Sustainability Award 2027
- Krones' Lavasonic HI receives the German Sustainability Award (DNP) for Products in the transformation field “Climate”.
- Jury recognises substantial reductions in energy consumption, water consumption and CO₂ emissions, as well as the technology's contribution to the circular economy for returnable packaging.
- The award marks Krones' third German Sustainability Award distinction in three years.
Krones AG has once again been recognised by the German Sustainability Award (DNP). Its Lavasonic HI bottle washer received the German Sustainability Award 2027 for Products in the transformation field “Climate”.
Energy and resource efficiency impress the jury
Bottle washers are among the most energy-intensive machines in an industrial filling line. With the Lavasonic HI, Krones addresses this challenge through a combination of ultrasonic cleaning technology and innovative process management.
Individually adjustable cleaning parameters and optimised flow design reduce cleaning times while lowering the consumption of energy, water and chemicals. Based on operating data submitted as part of the competition, the system delivers reductions of up to 30% in thermal energy consumption, 20% in freshwater consumption and 35% in CO₂ emissions.
In addition to its low resource consumption, the jury was impressed by the Lavasonic HI's gentle cleaning process. By reducing mechanical and chemical stress on bottles, the washer helps keep returnable glass and PET bottles in circulation for longer. According to the jury's written statement, "the technology combines savings potential in the cleaning process with improved circularity."
Third award in three years
For Krones, this marks the third distinction within the framework of the German Sustainability Award. At the DNP 2025, Krones subsidiary Steinecker received the Product Award for its Phoenix BMC biomass conversion solution. One year later, Krones AG was honoured with the Corporate Award in the Mechanical Engineering category.
