Enhanced customer-responsiveness thanks to globalised service support

Once a machine or line has gone into operation at the client’s facility, Krones’ involvement is by no means over. We aim to offer our clients not only maximised quality, but also second-to-none service support for the line’s entire useful lifetime. The internationalisation of our service business is therefore gaining steadily in importance, not least our Lifecycle Service operations (LCS). To enhance close-proximity customer-responsiveness, Krones has set up LCS Centers all around the globe. For even faster top-quality service support, more than 2,000 highly qualified service staff are deployed all over the world.
Our decentralised strategy also includes producing more and more of our spares and change parts in the LCS Centers and offering them to our clients directly from the centers and subsidiaries involved.

Innovation through investment

Meeting our clients’ wishes to their maximised satisfaction – this is the goal we focus on day in, day out. Continual research and development are vital for creating efficient, leading-edge production systems and services. At Krones, almost 2,000 staff are working on new products and design enhancements, as well as optimising our existing products, so as to upgrade our clients’ benefits still further and thus provide “Added Value”.

For breweries in particular, demand is growing for energy-economical machines, lines and systems. Krones AG offers its clients an option for downsizing their consumption of energy and media many times over thanks to the EquiTherm brewing system. For this energy-economical brewing concept, Krones’ Steinecker facility in Freising was awarded the Bavarian Energy Prize in 2013. “Here, the scientifically and technical feasible is achieved with streamlined energy utilisation, by rigorously interlinking all the energy conversion operations involved. Outstanding concepts of this kind are the guarantor for an innovation-friendly energy turnaround”, said a laudatory Martin Zeil, Bavaria’s Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology in praise of Steinecker’s new product. Shared responsibility – high standards for our vendors


Clients expect quality – which is why Krones also insists on stringent requirements for its vendors and their deadline compliance. We see the key to our success in long-standing, fair relationships with our business associates, and prioritise experience and trust. We purchase raw materials, products and services from vendors in around 60 different countries. We expect them to model their behaviour on the values of our corporate ethics. All orders placed with our vendors and service providers are based on the stipulations of our Vendors’ Code. This covers issues like health and safety, the environment, quality, human rights, staff standards and anti-corruption, and ensures that our sustainability criteria are also met by our suppliers. In order to monitor compliance with the guidelines, our quality management people conduct audits on the spot.

Quality assurance

Quality at the highest of levels

Quality has a long tradition behind it at Krones. As the market leader for beverage and packaging technologies, we see ourselves as rigorously obligated to supply our clients with products featuring the latest technology and maximally optimised quality: we generate our company’s success by actively involving all our staff in the quality management system.

The term “quality”, however, relates not solely to products and manufacturing processes. It also subsumes our responsibility for protecting the natural environment and for complying with health and safety standards. The existing quality management system was in 2009 upgraded to create an integrated system for quality, environmental protection and occupational safety, and certified by TÜV SÜD.

In December 2012, IMS certification (integrated management system) was achieved for the first time at a subsidiary abroad as well: the TÜV SÜD technical inspectorate awarded this accolade to the Lifecycle Service Center Krones do Brasil Ltda.

In December 2014 Krones Inc. in the USA also received the globally recognised IMS certificate for environmental protection (EN ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (BS OHSAS 18001) and quality (EN ISO 9001). Krones has thus taken a major step towards a future whole-group solution as part of its internationalisation strategy.
