The Krones cycling bottle wins the A’Design Award 2016
A sports bottle must be sturdy, stable, and handy - and it is clearly on a winning way if it also looks great. The Krones cycling bottle has been awarded the "Packaging Design" in this year's A’Design Award for its extraordinary design.
Handiness meets design – has long been the motto of the Krones design team. The result is a stunning new design: The Krones cycling bottle consists of stable PET, is extremely sturdy and can be reused. Geometric embossments in the body and neck area enhance the container to a veritable eye-catcher. The handy shape is also very convincing: An ergonomic grip area ensures that the bottle fits comfortably in the hand and makes it your perfect companion for sports.
In addition to the haptic highlights, the Krones cycling bottle mainly stands out with its design. The digital Krones DecoType ink-jet system applies ink in a direct-print method onto the bottle. This enables the realisation of structures which up to now could not be processed. The direct-print method enables a great variety of designs and makes sure that containers printed with DecoType are really eye-catching.
The Krones cycling bottle originated from the idea to design an individual advertising gift. Three Regensburg students completing their internship at Krones in the Container Design Department realised this project under the direction of Timo Janssen and Jochen Forsthoevel (Krones AG). The Krones cycling bottle was now awarded the A’Design Award 2016 in the "Packaging Design" category. The international competition awards a design prize each year in various categories. The awards ceremony took place at June 8 in the Italian city of Como.
