Krones to showcase solutions for mid-tier and craft breweries
Krones AG traditionally uses the BrauBeviale specifically to unveil new equipment for small and mid-tier breweries. In recent years, the number of craft breweries has risen spectacularly worldwide. So Krones’ exhibits are designed to meet the needs of this sector as well.
A new brewery off the peg with an implementation phase of less than a year from the kick-off meeting to the first bottle: this now becomes possible with the One2Brew concept from Krones. One2Brew is based on a detailed predefined design for a brewery with an annual capacity totalling up to 300,000 hl of sales-quality beer. The brewery’s process areas are divided up into functional units, supplied in prefabricated form, and put together in “plug and play” mode to form a coherently harmonised whole. This enables a planned brewery project to be completed within a minimised timeframe, since engineering, manufacture and erection take significantly less time. At the BrauBeviale, a part of the system will be on show in a 20-foot container, with digital depiction of the remaining components.
Specifically for craft brewers, Krones has developed the MicroCube brewhouse concept designed for brew sizes of five or ten hectolitres. The complete system comprises a brewhouse and a fermentation cellar. The concept also incorporates water, heat and refrigeration supply. The pre-assembled modules are installed and put into operation within a minimised timeframe. The aim is to provide equipment and a technology capable of producing more effective sedimentation and particle removal during the recirculation process. Among its major pluses:. The compact dimensions enable it to be installed on a minimised footprint. The entire delivery package can be accommodated in three to four 40-foot containers. The MicroCube is controlled by a Siemens S7-300 process control system.
A shorter fermentation and storage time in beer production operations cuts production costs and at the same time upsizes the capacities in the fermentation and storage cellar. When the efficiency of cold and heat transfer in the tank can also be improved and the product quality upgraded thanks to consistent fermentation conditions, then the synergies all come together. This is the thrust of a research and development project at Krones, tasked with creating a dynamic fermentation process. The main goal here was to provide equipment and a technology capable of producing more effective sedimentation and particle removal during the recirculation process. Among its major pluses:
The mixing system is also ideally suited for retrofitting in conventional cylindroconical tanks, since only the existing cone needs to be replaced. And: it’s also suitable for continuous fermentation processes. On its stand, Krones will be exhibiting a model of its dynamic fermentation concept.
Together with its subsidiaries Kosme, Syskron (intralogistics), Evoguard (valves and pumps), KIC Krones (expendables), System Logistics, Krones is also at this year’s BrauBeviale showcasing its comprehensive corporate capabilities as a one-stop vendor for filling and packaging technology in all output ranges.
