For a fresh product

The Spanish brewery Estrella Galicia is booming. And for its second production plant, it has once again chosen to rely on brewing technology from Steinecker.

Right from the start, this project, internally code-named “Nafasi” (which translates as “opportunity”), involved a tremendous amount of work both for Kenya Breweries Ltd. (KBL) and for Krones as the turnkey vendor for the entire process technology. In order to coordinate the various job sections against a tight time schedule, more than 1.7 million working hours have been performed to date; at peak times, there were 840 workers on days and 50 working at night, 250 of them from Krones and its sub suppliers alone.

There hadn’t been a brewery of this size built in Russia in over a decade. And this one, for Tatspirtprom for an annual capacity of two million hectoliters, was completed in record time: the first brew was mashed in just one year after the contract was awarded. The project marked Krones’ first turnkey brewery in Russia and the company’s fastest turnaround to date on a project of this magnitude.

New Realm Brewing in Atlanta, Georgia, may be a new name on the craft brewing scene, but the leadership team are anything but rookies. Partners Carey Falcone, Bob Powers, and Mitch Steele have nearly a century of combined experience in beer and brewing.

From zero to 3.2 million hectolitres, creating one of Cambodia’s strongest beer brands from scratch, and all of that in just seven years: this is what Khmer Beverages has managed to achieve.
