    Peñafiel: Bottle design endurance-tested

      Superlatively functional and nonetheless an eye-catcher

      They cope with transportation distances of several thousand kilometres, and survive temperature differentials of up to 60 degrees Celsius: the products of Grupo Peñafiel are seriously tough.

      Chief among them the “still beverages” team, which has withstand enormous stresses without the stabilising effect of carbon dioxide. To compensate for these exceptionally difficult conditions, the team at Peñafiel fetched Krones on board: a manufacturer of PET outfits that are designed for high functionality – and also look good into the bargain.

      The task:
      To create a family of containers that

      • can be universally used for different still beveragess.
      • harmonises with different labels and product colours.
      • retains its stability when transported over distances of 2,100 kilometres or more.
      • stands up to extreme conditions, such as temperatures of -20 to +45 °C.
      • is exceptionally pressure-resistant.

      The solution:
      The new bottles

      • with their newly developed base, compensate for extreme temperature fluctuations.
      • can be pressurised for transport with nitrogen at 0.5 bar.
      • feature a dynamic grooved design.
      • can be combined with different labels and beverage colours.
      • look good in all the product sizes available – from 0.5 to 1.5 litres.
