Coca-Cola HBC Egypt’s fastest canning line

Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta and Schweppes are just a few of the drinks filled by Coca-Cola HBC Egypt. The enterprise ranks among the country’s largest filling companies for soft drinks. As a strategic partner of the Coca-Cola Company, it produces and markets the latter’s drinks in Egypt.

In 1994, the business was established under the name of Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Egypt as a joint venture of the Coca-Cola Company and two other firms. This joint venture then became part of the Coca-Cola HBC family in 2022.

Successfully combining quality and speed for maximised canning efficiency

Coca-Cola HBC Egypt has kept on expanding over the years and currently operates five plants. The company’s steady growth called for another high-performance canning line at its facility in Sadat City. With this in mind, Coca-Cola HBC Egypt in early 2022 approached its long-standing partner Krones, many of whose lines are already running in Sadat City.

For our growing business in Egypt, it was important to collaborate with a company who can guarantee the best technology in terms of productivity and sustainability within the agreed delivery time. We approached Krones, our long-term partner, with a request to install a high-speed production line at our plant in Sadat City. Our goal was to make the most of the limited space available and install the line with maximum possible capacity. Krones coped with this challenging task brilliantly . Krones put together a line meeting the customer’s wish for top speed – 120,000 cans per hour. It starts with a Contiflow mixer, which is perfectly fine-tuned for the soft-drinks industry and delivers deaeration, dosing and carbonation. A 175-valve Modulfill VODM-C, which is combined with a third-party can seamer, fills the soft drinks into 250-, 300- and 330-millilitre cans. Directly downstream of the filler, the LinaTherm tunnel heater brings the cans gently up to ambient temperature. Finally, a field-proven Variopac Pro TFS packer rated at up to 100 cycles per minute puts the cans on trays which are then wrapped in film.
